Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  3. Mix melted butter, egg, and milk in another bowl until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, folding gently until just mixed.
  5. Fold in the diced apples carefully using a spatula.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, then sprinkle with half of the remaining apple pieces.
  7. Top with the remaining batter and the rest of the apples on top.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with milk for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled bread.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, consider using brown sugar. You can swap apples with pears or berries.
