Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Waffle Donuts:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Apple Filling:
    • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • For the Glaze:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk and melted butter, mixing well.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed; do not overmix.
  5. In a separate bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch.
  6. Fold the apple mixture into the batter gently.
  7. Grease the waffle iron lightly and pour in enough batter to fill the iron, close it, and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the donuts are cooking, mix the glaze ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.
  9. Once cooked, remove the waffle donuts and drizzle with glaze while still warm.
