Description

Deliciously soft and sweet glazed orange rolls filled with zesty orange marmalade and topped with a creamy glaze, perfect for brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or as needed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant dry yeast (one 1/4-ounce packet—Red Star Platinum)
  • Pinch salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs (lightly whisked)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or orange extract)
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • Pinch salt (optional for balancing sweetness)
  • 3 tablespoons milk or cream (as needed for consistency)
  • 3 teaspoons orange zest (divided)

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough: In the bowl of your stand mixer, or a large mixing bowl if you’re mixing by hand, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Give it a good stir to incorporate.
  2. Melt your butter for approximately a minute, then add buttermilk and combine. Heat until warm (120 to 130°F), whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour the butter-buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients. Add in the whisked eggs and knead the dough for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Transfer it to an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  5. Prepare a 9×13-inch pan by lining it with foil and spraying it with cooking spray.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 26-by-13 inches. Spread the softened butter across the dough.
  7. Drizzle around 3/4 cup of orange marmalade over the butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  8. Slice the dough into rolls using unscented dental floss.
  9. Arrange the rolls in the prepared pan, cover with plastic wrap, and allow to rise for about an hour.
  10. Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake for around 15 minutes until golden.
  11. Whisk together orange juice, vanilla, confectioners’ sugar, and optional salt for the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over warm rolls and finish with a dusting of zest.

Notes

For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh and your dough is kept warm while rising.
