- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 1–2 tbsp milk (for icing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a saucepan, heat milk and melted butter until warm, then add to the dry ingredients.
- Add the egg and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread blackberries evenly over it.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar over the blackberries.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk to create icing and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk.
- Feel free to substitute blackberries with other berries like raspberries or blueberries.
