Description

These Blackened Salmon Burgers are a delightful fusion of smoky spices and fresh salmon, creating a juicy and flavorful patty. Topped with a creamy avocado crema, each bite offers a rich, buttery texture that perfectly complements the zesty seasoning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Salmon Burgers:
    • 1 lb fresh salmon fillet, skin removed
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Avocado Crema:
    • 1 ripe avocado
    • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
    • 1 tablespoon lime juice
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet to medium-high heat (about 375°F).
  2. In a food processor, pulse the salmon fillet until coarsely chopped.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, green onions, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  4. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1 inch thick.
  5. Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F and they are nicely charred.
  6. While the burgers are cooking, prepare the avocado crema by blending the avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, minced garlic, and salt until smooth.
  7. Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Serve the salmon burgers on toasted buns topped with avocado crema.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: The salmon mixture can be prepared and formed into patties a day in advance; store in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
  • Storage: Cooked burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: Use panko breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture or swap Greek yogurt for sour cream in the crema.
