Description

A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Brush one side of each slice of bread with olive oil.
  3. Place one slice of bread, oiled side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer the mozzarella, tomato slices, and basil on top of the bread in the skillet.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, oiled side up.
  7. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
  9. Remove from skillet, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add balsamic glaze before serving.
  • Use sourdough or ciabatta bread for a different texture.
  • Make it vegan by using plant-based cheese and bread.
