- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- For the caramel sauce:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt for the crust. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Fill with the apple mixture.
- For the caramel, melt sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns amber. Add butter and stir until melted, then slowly whisk in cream and vanilla.
- Pour half of the caramel over the apple filling, then cover with a top crust, sealing the edges.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
