Description

This Caramel Apple Pie Dessert is a warm, gooey delight that combines the sweet, tart flavor of fresh apples with a rich, buttery caramel sauce. The flaky crust cradles tender apple slices, creating a comforting texture that melts in your mouth with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust:
    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • For the filling:
    • 6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • For the caramel sauce:
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt for the crust. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Fill with the apple mixture.
  6. For the caramel, melt sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns amber. Add butter and stir until melted, then slowly whisk in cream and vanilla.
  7. Pour half of the caramel over the apple filling, then cover with a top crust, sealing the edges.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
