Description

Cheesy Lasagna Rolls are a delightful twist on traditional lasagna, featuring tender pasta filled with a rich blend of creamy ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Each bite offers a satisfying combination of gooey texture and savory flavors, enhanced by a zesty marinara sauce that brings everything together beautifully.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pasta: 12 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
  • Cheese Filling:
    • 15 oz ricotta cheese
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • Marinara Sauce: 3 cups store-bought or homemade marinara sauce
  • Garnish: Fresh basil leaves for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, garlic powder, and Italian herbs until well blended.
  3. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Take one lasagna noodle, place 2-3 tablespoons of the cheese mixture on one end, and roll it up tightly.
  5. Place the rolled noodle seam-side down in the baking dish. Repeat with remaining noodles.
  6. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the rolls, ensuring they are well covered.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle additional mozzarella on top, and bake for another 15 minutes or until bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can assemble the lasagna rolls a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator before baking.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: For a lighter version, use low-fat ricotta and mozzarella. You can also add spinach or cooked ground meat to the cheese filling for added flavor.
