Description

These cookies for Valentine’s Day are decadently soft and chewy, with a rich, buttery flavor that melts in your mouth. Each bite is infused with a hint of vanilla and a touch of cocoa, creating a delightful balance that is both sweet and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Dry Ingredients:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Mix-ins:
    • 1 cup chocolate chips
    • 1/2 cup heart-shaped sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and heart-shaped sprinkles.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. They will continue to cook on the baking sheet after being removed from the oven.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
