Description

Country Baked Steak with Gravy is a hearty and comforting dish that combines tender steak with a rich, flavorful gravy, perfect for a family meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of round steak
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Dredge the round steak in the flour mixture until well coated.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat and brown the steak on both sides.
  5. Remove the steak and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onion until translucent.
  6. Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  7. Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and transfer to the oven.
  8. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the steak is tender.
  9. Serve hot with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a thicker gravy, you can mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with water and add it to the gravy during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like carrots or potatoes for a complete meal.
