Crab Crunchies are a delightful fusion of crispy textures and juicy crab meat, creating a mouthwatering experience with every bite. The golden-brown exterior gives way to a tender, flavorful filling that bursts with the essence of the sea, complemented by a hint of zesty seasoning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Crab Filling:
    • 1 cup fresh crab meat, picked over for shells
    • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
    • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Breading:
    • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • For Frying:
    • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and Old Bay seasoning until well blended.
  2. Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dredge each crab ball in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat (about 350°F or 175°C).
  6. Fry the crab balls in batches for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can prepare the crab filling a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
