Description

Curried Basmati Rice is a fragrant and flavorful dish that combines basmati rice with aromatic spices and vegetables, making it a perfect side or main dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the curry powder and mixed vegetables, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the rinsed rice and mix well to coat the rice with the spices.
  5. Add water and salt, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover the pot.
  6. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

  • For a spicier version, add chili powder or fresh chilies.
