Description

A rich and creamy chocolate mousse with a spooky twist, perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ghost-shaped chocolate decorations (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with half of the sugar until pale and creamy.
  3. Fold the melted chocolate into the egg yolk mixture.
  4. In another bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form, then gradually add the remaining sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture, followed by the whipped cream until fully combined.
  7. Divide the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  8. Before serving, garnish with ghost-shaped chocolate decorations.

Notes

  • Ensure the chocolate is cooled slightly before mixing with the egg yolks to prevent curdling.
  • For a lighter mousse, you can use whipped aquafaba instead of egg whites.
