Description

Ghostly Macarons are delightful and spooky treats perfect for Halloween celebrations. These delicate French cookies are filled with a creamy filling and decorated to resemble friendly ghosts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Black food coloring
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift together almond flour and powdered sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar and gradually add granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites gently.
  5. Add vanilla extract and black food coloring, mixing until combined.
  6. Pipe the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet in ghost shapes.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, then let cool completely.
  8. For the filling, beat softened butter with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
  9. Pipe the filling onto half of the macaron shells and sandwich with the other half.
  10. Decorate with additional black food coloring to create ghost faces.

Notes

  • Ensure egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
  • Let the macarons rest for 30 minutes before baking to develop a skin.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
