Ingredients

  • 8 to 10-pound precooked spiral ham (bone-in)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 to 5 large green apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the ham by removing the bottom plastic and placing it in a large roasting pan with 1/2 cup of water.
  3. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
  4. Tuck half of the apple slices into the spiral cuts of the ham.
  5. Combine the remaining ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle boil.
  6. Brush or pour half of the glaze over the ham, cover loosely with foil, and bake for one hour.
  7. Remove the ham, brush with the second half of the saved glaze, and bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes.
  8. Brush the remaining glaze over the ham and bake for another 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  9. Rest the ham for 20-30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Make your glaze in advance for easier preparation. Always ensure your ham is heated to an internal temperature of 140°F.
