Description

These gooey mozzarella stuffed meatballs are a delightful explosion of flavor and texture. Each bite reveals a warm, melty center of mozzarella cheese, surrounded by a perfectly seasoned, juicy meat exterior that is both tender and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Meatballs:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1/2 lb ground pork
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Filling:
    • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • For Cooking:
    • 2 cups marinara sauce
    • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Take a small amount of the meat mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and wrap the meat around it, forming a ball. Repeat until all meat mixture is used.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and sear them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can prepare the meatballs a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator before cooking.
  • Storage: Leftover meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef and pork for a lighter option.
