Description

These Grilled Salmon Burgers are a delightful fusion of juicy, flaky salmon and a zesty mango avocado slaw. The burgers are perfectly grilled to achieve a crispy exterior while remaining moist inside, complemented by the refreshing crunch and sweetness of the slaw.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Salmon Burgers:
    • 1 lb fresh salmon fillet, skin removed
    • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Mango Avocado Slaw:
    • 1 cup green cabbage, shredded
    • 1 ripe mango, diced
    • 1 ripe avocado, diced
    • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
    • 2 tablespoons lime juice
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For Serving:
    • 4 whole wheat burger buns
    • Fresh cilantro leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F).
  2. In a bowl, finely chop the salmon fillet and combine it with breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, dill, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1 inch thick.
  4. Grill the salmon patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
  5. While the burgers are grilling, prepare the mango avocado slaw by combining cabbage, mango, avocado, red onion, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Toss gently to combine.
  6. Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a salmon patty on each bun and topping with a generous scoop of mango avocado slaw.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: The salmon mixture can be prepared and formed into patties a day in advance; store in the refrigerator until ready to grill.
  • Storage: Leftover burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Substitutions: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option; swap mango for pineapple for a different flavor.
