- 2 medium zucchinis
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, or olives
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the zucchinis thinly and layer half of them on the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
- Brown the ground meat in a skillet over medium heat, seasoning it with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until fully cooked.
- Layer the cooked meat evenly over the zucchini slices.
- Pour marinara sauce over the meat, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top.
- Add the remaining zucchini slices, followed by the rest of the marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, drain any excess fat from the cooked meat. Customize with your favorite toppings.
