Description

These Holiday Chocolate Crunch Truffles are a delightful blend of rich, velvety chocolate and a satisfying crispy texture. Each bite offers a luxurious melt-in-your-mouth experience, complemented by the crunch of toasted nuts and a hint of sea salt that elevates the flavor profile.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chocolate Mixture:
    • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Crispy Coating:
    • 1 cup crispy rice cereal
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (hazelnuts or almonds)
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Garnish:
    • Sea salt flakes

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  2. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth and fully melted.
  3. Let the chocolate mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 1 hour until it thickens.
  4. Once thickened, use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate mixture, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the crispy rice cereal, chopped nuts, and powdered sugar.
  6. Roll each chocolate ball in the crispy coating until fully covered.
  7. Place the truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  8. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes to set before serving.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: These truffles can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • Storage: Keep truffles in a cool, dry place or in the fridge to maintain their texture.
  • Substitutions: Use milk chocolate for a sweeter flavor or dark chocolate for a richer taste. You can also swap nuts for seeds to make it nut-free.
