Description
Italian Sushi Prosciutto Burrata is a delightful fusion dish that combines the creamy richness of burrata cheese with the savory, salty notes of prosciutto. Each bite offers a unique texture, with the soft, luscious cheese contrasting beautifully against the delicate, thinly sliced prosciutto, creating a flavor experience that is both indulgent and refreshing.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the Sushi Rice:
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- For the Filling:
- 4 ounces burrata cheese
- 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup arugula
- 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- For the Garnish:
- Fresh basil leaves
- Balsamic glaze
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, about 2-3 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice and let it cool to room temperature.
- Lay a sheet of plastic wrap on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the plastic wrap, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
- Layer the prosciutto, burrata, arugula, and cherry tomatoes on top of the rice.
- Using the mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll.
- Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the sushi into 6-8 pieces. Serve with fresh basil and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Notes
- This dish can be made ahead of time; store the sushi rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- For storage, wrap each roll in plastic wrap to maintain freshness.
- Substitutions: Use smoked salmon instead of prosciutto for a different flavor profile.
