Description

Indulge in the succulent, juicy chicken that melts in your mouth, perfectly complemented by a sweet and spicy blackberry heat sauce. The tender meat is enveloped in a crispy, golden crust, while the sauce adds a vibrant burst of flavor that dances on your palate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Chicken:
    • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Blackberry Heat Sauce:
    • 1 cup fresh blackberries
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat (about 350°F).
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, coating evenly.
  5. Fry the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  6. For the sauce, combine blackberries, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until blackberries break down, about 5 minutes.
  7. Stir in soy sauce and cornstarch mixture, cooking until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve the fried chicken drizzled with blackberry heat sauce.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead by frying the chicken and reheating in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
  • Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour.
