Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the mixed berries carefully.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently until it holds together.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
- Transfer the scones to the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- Whisk together powdered sugar and milk for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled scones.
Notes
Use cold butter for flaky layers. You can add your favorite berries or even chocolate chips for a twist.
