Description

Indulge in the Monte Cristo Breakfast Casserole, where layers of fluffy bread, savory ham, and creamy cheese meld together in a delightful harmony. Ingredients

  • Bread: 8 slices of brioche or challah, cut into cubes
  • Meats: 1 cup diced ham, 1 cup cooked turkey or chicken
  • Cheese: 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Egg Mixture: 6 large eggs, 2 cups whole milk, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the bread cubes, followed by half of the ham, turkey, and cheeses.
  4. Pour half of the egg mixture over the layered ingredients.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining bread, meats, and cheeses, then pour the remaining egg mixture on top.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  8. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

  • This casserole can be prepared the night before; simply cover and refrigerate before baking.
