Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or flank steak)
  • 1 cup rice (preferably jasmine or basmati)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the steak generously with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook the steak for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Add rice, beef broth, and honey BBQ sauce to the skillet and stir to combine.
  5. Simmer by bringing to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Incorporate the heavy cream and stir gently until creamy.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature steak for a better sear. Rinse rice to prevent stickiness.
