Ingredients
Scale
- For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the Cheese Mixture:
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- For Assembly:
- 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
- Extra mozzarella cheese for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and a generous topping of mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
