Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Meat Sauce:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 4 slices bacon, chopped
    • 1 small onion, diced
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
    • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
    • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Cheese Mixture:
    • 2 cups ricotta cheese
    • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • For Assembly:
    • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
    • Extra mozzarella cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
  3. Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  8. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce, and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles, meat sauce, and a generous topping of mozzarella cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
