Description

The Patty Melt Pizza combines the savory flavors of a classic patty melt with the crispy texture of a perfectly baked pizza crust. Each bite offers a delightful crunch, followed by the rich, gooey cheese and seasoned beef that melt together in a symphony of taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Pizza Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • For the Toppings:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
    • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tbsp butter (for sautéing onions)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then knead until smooth (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough rises, sauté onions in butter over medium heat until caramelized (about 10 minutes).
  5. In a skillet, brown the ground beef, seasoning with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
  6. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and place it on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  8. Spread the cooked beef evenly over the dough, followed by the caramelized onions, and top with cheddar and Swiss cheese.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • This pizza can be made ahead of time; prepare the dough and toppings, then refrigerate separately until ready to bake.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with a plant-based meat alternative.
