Description

Rice paper dumplings are delicate, translucent parcels that burst with flavor and texture. Each bite reveals a creamy filling that contrasts beautifully with the chewy, slightly sticky rice paper, creating a delightful sensory experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dumplings:
    • 10 sheets rice paper
    • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
    • 1 cup cabbage, finely shredded
    • 1/2 cup carrots, grated
    • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
    • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • For the Dipping Sauce:
    • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
    • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine shrimp, cabbage, carrots, green onions, cilantro, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper sheet into the water for about 10 seconds until softened.
  3. Place the softened rice paper on a clean surface and add 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture in the center.
  4. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining rice paper sheets and filling.
  6. For the dipping sauce, whisk together hoisin sauce, peanut butter, water, and lime juice until smooth.
  7. Serve the dumplings with the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can prepare the dumplings a few hours in advance and store them in the refrigerator, covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
  • Storage: Store any leftover dumplings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Substitutions: Substitute shrimp with tofu for a vegetarian option or use different vegetables based on your preference.
