Description

This Sausage Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole is a delightful blend of crispy hash browns, savory sausage, and gooey cheese, creating a comforting dish that warms the soul. Each bite offers a satisfying crunch followed by a creamy, cheesy finish that lingers on the palate.


Ingredients

  • Hash Browns: 4 cups frozen hash browns, thawed
  • Sausage: 1 pound breakfast sausage, crumbled
  • Cheese: 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Eggs: 6 large eggs
  • Milk: 1 cup whole milk
  • Seasoning: 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the crumbled sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the hash browns, cooked sausage, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the hash brown mixture and stir until well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
  7. Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • This casserole can be assembled the night before and stored in the refrigerator. Just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a healthier option, substitute turkey sausage or add vegetables like bell peppers and spinach.
