Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into 1-inch pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
- Boil the pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each bite with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
