Description
A delightful Sourdough Loaf enriched with olive oil and egg, perfect for cozy gatherings or simple breakfasts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g Bread Flour
- 350ml Warm Water
- 100g Sourdough Starter
- 10g Salt
- 30ml Olive Oil
- 1 Large Egg
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour and salt, whisking to incorporate.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, combine the warm water, sourdough starter, and olive oil until well blended.
- Form the dough: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, using a wooden spoon or your hands to mix until a rough dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let it rise at room temperature for 240-360 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Shape the loaf: Once risen, gently deflate the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Prepare for baking: Place the shaped loaf into a greased loaf pan, brushing the top with a beaten egg for shine and flavor.
- Second rise: Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Let the loaf rise for another 60 minutes, covered lightly with a towel.
- Bake to perfection: Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top turns golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool and slice: Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using infused olive oils such as garlic or rosemary. Store the loaf in a paper bag at room temperature for up to three days.
