Description

Deliciously tender banana bars topped with a creamy, caramel-sweet glaze made of browned butter and vanilla.


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons browned butter
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine in a large bowl the mashed bananas, melted butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the baking soda and salt, mixing until evenly distributed.
  4. Gradually introduce the flour, folding it until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the glaze by whisking together the browned butter, powdered sugar, and milk until the desired consistency.
  8. Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the bars and cut into squares to serve.

Notes

These banana bars can be made a day in advance for enhanced banana flavor. Customize them by adding nuts or chocolate chips!
