Instructions

- Arrange the beef shanks in a large casserole dish.
- Lay chopped onions and garlic around the beef.
- Pour in liquid to nearly cover the meat.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Cover the casserole tightly and place it in the oven.
- Cook slowly for several hours until the meat is tender.
- Serve hot with the onions and garlic, drizzling the cooking liquid on top.
