Description
A comforting Beef Curry Pie with a golden crust and rich, savory filling that combines ground beef, aromatic spices, and creamy vegetables.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 package pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it releases a succulent aroma.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the curry powder and cumin, stirring for about two minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the frozen peas and carrots, then the heavy cream, and season with salt and pepper. Stir until slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Roll out your pie crust and place it into a prepared pie dish. Fill it with the beef mixture.
- Cover with the top crust, sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden.
- Let cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For make-ahead tips, prepare the filling a day in advance and refrigerate. You can also use an air fryer for a quicker option.
