Description

A comforting creamy potatoes casserole with golden topping, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil the sliced potatoes in a large pot of salted water until just tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Drain them thoroughly to remove any excess moisture.
  4. Whisk together the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  5. Grease your casserole dish with butter.
  6. Layer half of the potatoes in the dish, followed by half of the cream mixture and half of the shredded cheese. Repeat this process.
  7. Dot the top layer with additional butter.
  8. Cover the dish and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes.
  9. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Make the casserole a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator before baking. Consider adding cooked vegetables or different cheeses for variations.
