- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the sliced potatoes in a large pot of salted water until just tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain them thoroughly to remove any excess moisture.
- Whisk together the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Grease your casserole dish with butter.
- Layer half of the potatoes in the dish, followed by half of the cream mixture and half of the shredded cheese. Repeat this process.
- Dot the top layer with additional butter.
- Cover the dish and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes.
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Make the casserole a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator before baking. Consider adding cooked vegetables or different cheeses for variations.
