Instructions
- Combine 500 g of strong white bread flour with 350 g of lukewarm milk and 50 g of lukewarm water in a large bowl. Stir gently until a shaggy, rough dough forms.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
- Transfer the rested dough onto a well-floured surface and shape it into a round ball. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Place the dough into a preheated cast-iron skillet or Dutch oven.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the loaf becomes a rich golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow the bread to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a lighter option, you can use all-purpose flour but expect a slightly different texture. Consider adding herbs or cheese for variations.
