Deliciously flaky Garlic and Herb Sourdough Biscuits made with sourdough discard, garlic, and fresh herbs, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, dried herbs, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and sourdough discard until evenly distributed.
- Add the buttermilk gradually, mixing until the dough just comes together.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently three to four times.
- Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut into rounds.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm, ideally with butter or honey.
Notes
For make-ahead, freeze cut biscuits and bake directly from the freezer.
