- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and cocoa powder. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
- Boil to perfection: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 240°F (115°C) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Whip cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- Fold together: Gently fold the whipped cream and vanilla extract into the cooled chocolate mixture until combined.
- Add nuts: If desired, fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the mixture into a greased square baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Let it rest: Allow the nougat mix to sit at room temperature until it’s set, about 1-2 hours.
- Cut into squares.
- Melt chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with vegetable oil until smooth.
- Dip each nougat square into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully covered, and transfer to wax paper to cool and harden.
