Description

Indulge in sweet Homemade Chocolate Squares Nougat Candy, featuring rich chocolate and fluffy nougat for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and cocoa powder. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Boil to perfection: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 240°F (115°C) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Whip cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  5. Fold together: Gently fold the whipped cream and vanilla extract into the cooled chocolate mixture until combined.
  6. Add nuts: If desired, fold in the chopped nuts.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased square baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Let it rest: Allow the nougat mix to sit at room temperature until it’s set, about 1-2 hours.
  9. Cut into squares.
  10. Melt chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with vegetable oil until smooth.
  11. Dip each nougat square into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully covered, and transfer to wax paper to cool and harden.

Notes

Consider making a double batch to satisfy your sweet tooth. These keep well for up to two weeks in an airtight container.
