Description

Ingredients

  • Sweet Yellow or White Onions
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • Oil for Frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into 1/8-inch thick rings.
  2. Soak the rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the flour mixture by whisking together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
  4. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Coat the onion rings with the seasoned flour mixture.
  6. Fry the coated rings in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
