Description

A delightful appetizer featuring crispy baguette slices topped with creamy ricotta, sweet pears, and toasted walnuts, drizzled with honey and garnished with fresh thyme.


Ingredients

  • 1 large baguette or sourdough loaf, sliced thick
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 cup fresh ricotta cheese (or goat cheese)
  • 12 ripe pears (Bosc or Anjou), cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 3 tbsp honey (or hot honey)
  • Fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Brush each slice of bread lightly with olive oil and bake or grill for about 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.
  3. Toast the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until fragrant and lightly browned.
  4. Spread a layer of ricotta over each piece of toasted bread and arrange 2–3 pear slices on top.
  5. Scatter the toasted walnuts over the pears.
  6. Drizzle with honey and finish with fresh thyme leaves and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  7. Serve immediately while the bread is crispy.

Notes

Assemble just before serving to maintain the freshness of the ingredients. Can substitute goat cheese or different nuts for variety.
