A delightful fusion of savory Italian sausage, pepperoni, and creamy mozzarella cheese, all stuffed into a golden-brown Italian bread and finished with a drizzle of honey.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian style bread
  • 2 cups ground spicy Italian beef sausage
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 12 to 20 pepperoni slices
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill for two-zone cooking at 325°F.
  2. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  3. Create space by scooping some soft bread from the insides.
  4. Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese to each bottom half.
  5. Spread the spicy Italian ground sausage over the cheese.
  6. Chill the bread halves in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. Sear the sausage side on the direct heat for about 10 minutes.
  8. Flip the bread and move it to the indirect heat side of the grill.
  9. Cook until the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
  10. Ramp up the heat to 450°F.
  11. Finish by adding pizza sauce, remaining mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices.
  12. Melt until cheese bubbles and becomes lightly brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  13. Drizzle honey over the pizza bread before removing it from the grill.
  14. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, avoid overstuffing the bread and ensure the bread firms up in the refrigerator before grilling. Customize with vegetables or different types of cheese as desired.
