Description
A comforting slow-cooked dish featuring savory beef topped with caramelized peppers, onions, and a rich gravy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80–85% lean)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Bell peppers (any color), sliced
- Onions, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef with kosher salt and black pepper in a mixing bowl, ensuring even distribution. Shape into uniform burger steaks, about ¾ inch thick.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the pan. Sear each burger steak for 2–3 minutes on each side until browned.
- Slice the bell peppers and onions, and layer them in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the seared burger steaks on top of the vegetables.
- Mix the beef broth, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce in a separate bowl, then pour over the burger steaks.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
Notes
Consider making the burger steaks and sautéing the vegetables the night before. Store them separately in the fridge to simplify the morning preparation.
