Description

Transform your meals with this soft, golden-brown homemade pita bread that’s perfect for dipping or stuffing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110Β°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix the ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and instant yeast. Gradually pour in the warm water while stirring with a wooden spoon until it forms a rough dough.
  2. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  3. Let it rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise for about 1 hour or until it’s doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475Β°F and place your baking stone or sheet inside to heat thoroughly.
  5. Shape the dough: Once risen, punch down the dough gently, divide it into 8 equal pieces, and roll each piece into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Bake the pitas: Transfer the circles to the hot baking stone or sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes until they puff and turn golden brown.
  7. Cool and serve: Remove the pitas from the oven and cover them with a towel to keep warm and soft. Serve immediately.

Notes

Customize the pitas with spices or herbs like garlic powder or za’atar for extra flavor. For advance preparation, let the dough rise overnight in the refrigerator.
