Description

Homemade sourdough bread with a crunchy crust and airy, chewy crumb.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g Bread Flour
  • 350g Water
  • 100g Active Sourdough Starter
  • 10g Salt

Instructions

  1. Combine and rest: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and water. Mix until just blended, then let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. Mix in starter and salt: Add your active sourdough starter and salt to the dough. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until it transforms into a smooth, elastic dough.
  4. Let it rise: Place your dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise at room temperature for 4-6 hours or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the dough: Gently deflate your dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it into a floured proofing basket, seam side up.
  6. Final rise: Cover and let it rise for an additional 1-2 hours until puffy.
  7. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with your Dutch oven inside for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the bread: Transfer the dough into the hot Dutch oven and cover it. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  9. Cool down: Allow your bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes
